You may have read that underfloor heating cannot be used with carpet as the top layer of flooring material – but this is wrong! With the right underfloor heating system and a low-tog carpet, you can have carpeted floors and underfloor heating.
How under carpet heating works
Under carpet heating works in the same way as under tile heating. Working on the theory that heat rises, the hot water circulating in a system of pipes beneath the floor, heat the floor – or carpet, in this case – and is then disbursed around the room.
There are no cold spots, and no hot spots in a room, just pleasant background heat – and no cold feet!
