10 Benefits of Underfloor Heating

Thinking of investing in underfloor heating? If you are, you will be joining the thousands of homeowners already enjoy the luxury of warm floors under their feet, a cosy home and lower heating bills. But what other benefits does underfloor heating bring?

1.    Warmer, Quicker

Some critics will tell you that underfloor heating can take hours to reach the desired temperature. We say, you need to understand the system and how it should work to fully understand.

An underfloor heating system supplies a lower level of heat and although it is not as quick as a central heating system blasting out heat within minutes, it is a responsive and intelligent system.

As the homeowner, you will be more proactive not just about the desired level of heat in your home but how well insulated your home is. Because less heat loss means the heating system won’t need to work as hard, saving you money.

2.    More Room

Have you noticed how radiators are placed in the most awkward of places? Why are they placed in the centre of the wall or, worse still in many ways, underneath a window that makes it almost impossible to have floor length curtains?

Everything with underfloor heating is hidden away, literally under your feet. So, no radiators to decorate around, no radiators taking up wall space etc.

3.    Minimalist in Style

Your home is YOUR castle and that means you style it, dress and use it as you like. No longer will the budding interior designer in you have to work your style around bland radiators…

4.    Clean

The one thing we love about underfloor heating is that it works well with hard floors. The result is a home that is so much easier to clean and keep clean – but on a higher level of hygienic clean.

Radiators heat the air, causing dust laden air to swirl upwards to the ceiling and then drop back down as it cools. For people with asthma and other chest complaints, as well as people with some skin conditions, this movement of air and dust causes them a problem.

Underfloor heating heats the floor and this makes it a far more pleasant means of heating a room or home.

5.    Safety First!

Radiators can get hot, really hot. And they have corners that can make bumping into them a painful experience.

For children and vulnerable adults, radiators can pose a safety issue but with underfloor heating, there are no such issues – no nasty bumps and no too-hot to touch radiators.

6.    Easy in Install and Operate

Electric or dry underfloor heating is simply a case of unrolling mats, laying the top floor back on and switching on. Job done!

Wet or water underfloor heating takes a little more effort but is worth it because this type of system is cheaper to run and frankly, anything that saves us cash is always welcome.

You can lay both systems yourself or ask a professional installation company for a quote.

7.    Saves Money

Radiators heat the air and can, at times, make the house too hot and stuffy. Hence, we open a window to ‘change the air’ but in the process, let all that lovely warm air out.

But it is akin to throwing open the window and empty your purse or wallet into the breeze. Warmth in your home is valuable, it costs a lot of money and will cost even more soon with the cost of energy going up. Again.

Underfloor hating is gentler, more comfortable, less stuffy, and this means you save money because there is no need to open any windows.

8.    The Best Kind of Heat (Well, We Think So…)

Radiated heat means that the underfloor heating system heats the floor and objects in the room – including you. Until you have experienced this for yourself, you will be truly unaware just how much more pleasant this is than having hot air swirling about, and hot spots in a room by a radiator.

9.    No Maintenance

Underfloor heating is such a simple heating system, with relatively little few moving parts it next to no maintenance. Some people have their system checked over every now and then but on the whole, it is a heating system that lasts for a lifetime. It works time and time, with very few malfunctions, if any at all.

10. Works Alongside Other Heating Systems

If you don’t have the budget to lay it throughout your home, you can like our other customers, invest in a single zone underfloor heating kit and just heat one room or space, like a bathroom or a living room.

Or, with a multi zone kit, you can heat every room in the house to just the right temperature…

BONUS TIP: Adds Value and Desirability

Underfloor heating works best in a home that is well-insulated which has a positive impact on the Energy Performance Certificate (EPC) rating. And that shows potential buyers how much you have cared for your property.

Should you install underfloor heating in your home? It’s a no-brainer we say…
