7 Affordable Ways to Make Your Home More Luxurious

You don’t have to spend millions to give your pad a hint of luxury. Take a look at these seven affordable luxurious tweaks for your home.

#1 Low Profile Underfloor Heating

Being too hot or being too cold is not something that walks hand in hand with luxury and so creating a home that is neither of these things adds to the sense of luxury.

As well as luxurious low profile underfloor heating throughout your home – can’t afford that? Opt for a room by room approach, starting with the bathroom because seriously, is there anything more luxurious than a warm floor when you step out of the bath or the shower? – consider air conditioning too, if you need it. Or simply adding a stylish fan would work too.

#2 Deep pile rugs

When it comes to luxury, the factor that sends the right notes and hints is quality. Everything you choose should have a quality all of its own.

As well as visual appearance, texture and the sense of touch are important too so when it comes to buying items for any room in your home, consider how they appeal to the sense of touch.

If deep pile carpets are out of budget or simply not practical for your home, the alternative is to add a more than decadent hint with a deep pile rug.

As well as being luxurious to the touch, by opting for a wool mix, it will ooze with quality too.

#3 The spa bathroom experience

Rugs are moveable feasts and so on one hand, if you are adding luxury touches to fuel a good asking price, you need to consider some of the fixed aspects of your home.

A designer bathroom speaks volumes when it comes to luxury but for many of us, this is out of our price range. But you can add hints and glimmers of luxury with;

  • Choosing one item in the bathroom and making it the centre of attention – whether that is a roomy shower or a stand out bathtub.
  • Even the small details make a difference – and so yes, that waterfall tap you’ve got your eye is a piece of affordable luxury that is practical too.

#4 Make something of the hall – lighting

Luxury is about a style, a mode of living that oozes out of every pore and like top boutique hotels, setting the right impression in your hallway is essential – and probably something you should do before you re-do the bathroom and other luxury touches.

In the hallway, think bespoke hallway storage solutions and think the latest colour schemes that give more than a hint of your ability to create a fantastic stylish home.

And then add the pinnacle of luxury with lighting. You can opt for dimmable, voice control LED lighting or, if the boot fits as they say, why not go the full hog and invest in a cut-glass chandelier?

As a lighting option, it works well in any size hallway so don’t assume that these luxury touches are only for the big hallways.

#5 Window dressings

Whether you opt for curtains or blinds, or a combination of both, how you dress your windows is a sign of luxury and elegance too.

Window dressings can be expensive and so when it comes to your favoured mode of adding privacy to a room, spend the lion share of your budget on that.

Layering window dressings give a sense luxury and glamour too. And there is nothing better than bespoke, made-to-measure curtains either for spelling luxury in capital letters.

#6 Organise your space

Again, take a look at the high-end boutique hotels and you will see that they have many things in common – one of which is the way that they organise and style their rooms.

Every item is well-chosen, providing both function and form to the space. This doesn’t mean it has to be expensive but for it to look luxurious (and a bit pricey!), you need to give it the right setting.

And that means choosing muted colours and being knowledgeable about furniture placement. And don’t forget, there is no compensation for choosing high-quality items, either.

#7 Flowers

Just like the sense of touch, perfume also spells of decadence and luxury. There is no better scent for a home that flowers and so if you want to add an instant hit of luxe to your pad, an expensive looking bouquet or two won’t go amiss.
